GENERAL INFORMATION
DATES: The ECTA Conference will take place from Thursday 17 to Saturday 19 June 2010. The ECTA Conference will be preceded by an ASIPI Seminar on Tuesday 15 June. Committee meetings including the ECTA Council meeting and the ASIPI Executive Committee meeting will be held on Wednesday 16 June. A Workshop has also been organised on Wednesday 16 June 2010.
VENUE:
The meeting venue will be the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya (Conference Centre), annex to Hotel Rey Juan Carlos I. It is one of the three official conference centres of Barcelona, located in the most elegant business area of the city.

CLIMATE: The climate in Barcelona is typically Mediterranean. In June it is usually sunny, with temperatures ranging from 20 to 28 ºC the average is 22ºC (72ºF).
CURRENCY: The currency in Spain is Euro (€)
ELECTRICITY: The electricity supply is 220 volts. Plugs have two round pins.
INSURANCE: Participants are advised to arrange adequate travel insurance, as the Conference does not cover persons against cancellation of booking, theft of belongings or any other risk.
MEDICAL SERVICES: Public hospitals –available for tourists – offer a 24-hour emergency service, without charge.
SOCIAL EVENTS: ECTA requests that during the entire period (Tuesday 15 June to Friday 18 June) no other non-official Conference events should be arranged.
OFFICIAL LANGUAGE: The official language of the ECTA Conference is English, no simultaneous translation will be offered. In the ASIPI Seminar simultaneous translation English-Spanish and vice versa will be provided.
TRAVEL TO BARCELONA: Barcelona is a very accessible city from any part of the world. Barcelona El Prat international Airport offers services to over 115 cities around the globe, served by almost every international
airline (regular and low cost). The Airport has direct links by bus to the Conference Hotel area in less than 30 minutes. By taxi it takes approximately 15 minutes to the Conference Hotels area. Taxi costs are 25-30 €. If you travel from Madrid, the AVE (high speed train) is also
very convenient (it takes around 2 hours 40 minutes to Barcelona-Sants Railway station).
TRAVEL WITHIN BARCELONA: Public transport in Barcelona is very efficient. Metro (underground) stops are located close to the Conference hotels. From the Conference hotels to the Conference Centre we recommend to use the tramway alongside Diagonal avenue. The organisation of the Conference will provide delegates and accompanying persons with a free pass for all public transport (Tram, Metro and Bus) during the Conference days (Wednesday, Thursday and
Friday)
PASSPORTS AND/OR VISAS: A valid ID or Passport is required for entry into Spain for participants from the European Union. For participants from other countries a valid passport is required. Participants from some countries may require a visa for entry into Spain. Please check with your
local Spanish consulate or Embassy.
BADGE: Delegates, guest and accompanying persons are requested to wear their identification badge for all events.
